What a day! As Mr. Nara Chandrababu Naidu comes back, I'm reminded of his story of persistence and how he transformed Hyderabad and brought Microsoft to India! In 1997, Mr. Chandrababu Naidu, the visionary, took a big challenge and embarked on a remarkable journey to convince Bill Gates to bring Microsoft to Hyderabad. It wasn't easy to get Bill Gates' time. Initially approaching the Microsoft founder with his top TDP MLAs, he encountered skepticism. Since Gates had come to Delhi, Mr. Naidu wanted to meet him, but the ambassador in Delhi informed him that the tech head was not giving any interviews. Gates expressed reservations about the feasibility of such a venture but committed to exploring the possibility further. Undeterred, Naidu tenaciously pursued Gates and finally got a 10-minute appointment after a private dinner hosted by Gates in Davos. Sir made this presentation himself, one of the first ministers to do so then. Ultimately, Gates ended up spending 45 minutes with him. When Gates asked what was expected from him, Naidu's request was to build a Microsoft development center in Hyderabad. Gates said, "If at all I have a development center outside Seattle, 100%, I will have it in Hyderabad." Today, Microsoft Hyd is the biggest campus outside Seattle, and setting up of the Microsoft Hyderabad campus was pivotal in catalyzing the creation of the Hi-Tech City. It impacted the city’s economy and the growth of India’s IT industry, providing lakhs of jobs and transforming Hyderabad into a global technology hub. It's a story of grand vision, relentless persistence, and unwavering determination that has transformed Hyderabad into the thriving city I proudly call home. It's also the reason Microsoft is here, the place where I work. Onwards and upwards, Andhra Pradesh! I'm happy to share that I've been promoted to Product Manager 2 at Microsoft! To be honest online onboarding was tough and working from home was tougher but the amazing culture that the team created helped me connect, ask and learn from everyone. Last one year was a great learning experience, I got to work on amazing project, learn the PM responsibilities in depth, collaborate and build relations and also contribute to other Microsoft Initiatives and mentor PM aspirants. Last month was by far the best as I moved to Hyderabad, met everyone and enjoyed the beautiful Hyderabad campus Truly grateful to everyone who helped and supported me in this last one year right from my Team, Manager, family and FMS friends.
