I didn’t start my career with a big college name. No strong network. No roadmap.
Just a simple hope that maybe… one day… life will change.
And honestly, for the longest time, I had no idea how to grow.
I jumped from one random YouTube tutorial to another,
studied without direction,
and kept asking myself —
Why isn’t anything working?
It took me years to understand something very simple:
𝐆𝐫𝐨𝐰𝐭𝐡 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝𝐬 𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐮𝐜𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞.
𝐒𝐤𝐢𝐥𝐥𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐬𝐢𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐲.
𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐜𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐧𝐞𝐞𝐝 𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐮𝐨𝐮𝐬 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧𝐢𝐧𝐠.
Today when people see the achievements —
mentoring students, working on AI/ML, speaking at events,
being recognised on LinkedIn —
it all looks clean from the outside.
But behind the scenes?
𝐈𝐭 𝐰𝐚𝐬 𝐦𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐲.
𝐋𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐧𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭𝐬, 𝐬𝐞𝐥𝐟-𝐝𝐨𝐮𝐛𝐭, 𝐫𝐞𝐣𝐞𝐜𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐟𝐞𝐚𝐫 𝐨𝐟 𝐛𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐥𝐞𝐟𝐭 𝐛𝐞𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐝…
𝐲𝐞𝐭 𝐜𝐡𝐨𝐨𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐨 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐲𝐰𝐚𝐲.
If you feel stuck today, like your career isn’t moving
trust me, I’ve been exactly where you are.
That’s why I genuinely recommend starting with structured learning.
Platforms like Coursera make the journey easier:
10,000 plus programs, AI courses from Google, IBM, Microsoft, Vanderbilt, Duke
and almost 40 percent off right now.
If you’ve been waiting for a sign to start learning again, this is it.
Explore all AI courses here: https://lnkd.in/gXkFKsEs
Google Introduction to Generative AI
https://lnkd.in/gviThRAy
IBM RAG and Agentic AI professional certificate - https://lnkd.in/gd9vWFiD
IBM Building AI Agents and Agentic Workflows Specialization - https://lnkd.in/gH5JqQHS
Take one course.
Build one skill.
Give yourself one chance.
Your story can change completely.
Mine did — not because I was special…
but because I refused to stop learning.
Your journey is just getting started.
Keep going. ❤️

→ I thought my Tier-3 college background would always hold me back...
No coding culture. No big-name companies.
No one talked about FAANG, startups, or even career dreams.
I didn’t have a mentor, roadmap, or a fancy resume or topmate.io to seek guidance.
→ I thought starting at TCS with 3.3 LPA meant I'd stay average forever...
I saw friends getting 12–20 LPA packages.
I doubted myself. Compared myself.
Thought maybe this is it. Maybe this is all I’ll ever be.
But something inside me refused to settle.
→ I stopped asking, “Why not me?”
→ I started asking, “What can I do today?”
→ I took every task seriously.
→ I learned after work. Upskilled. Failed. Repeated.
𝐒𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐈 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
𝐎𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐝𝐚𝐲𝐬, 𝐈 𝐜𝐫𝐢𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐧 𝐬𝐢𝐥𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞.
𝐁𝐮𝐭 𝐈 𝐧𝐞𝐯𝐞𝐫 𝐬𝐭𝐨𝐩𝐩𝐞𝐝 𝐬𝐡𝐨𝐰𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐮𝐩.
That attitude got me:
– A switch from service to product company
– Promotions that weren’t handed, but earned
– And today, I’m a Senior Software Engineer at Intuit, with 6+ years of experience
Not because I had a head start.
But because I didn’t quit at the first hurdle.
𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐟𝐢𝐫𝐬𝐭 𝐣𝐨𝐛 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐟𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐥𝐚𝐬𝐭.
𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐨𝐥𝐥𝐞𝐠𝐞 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬𝐧’𝐭 𝐝𝐞𝐜𝐢𝐝𝐞 𝐲𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐜𝐞𝐢𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠.
𝐘𝐨𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐬𝐞𝐭 𝐝𝐨𝐞𝐬.
So to anyone who’s starting small, with a big dream:
Take that job. Keep upskilling.
And remember — it’s just the beginning.
Need guidance? Don’t hesitate, take it from those who have done it — https://lnkd.in/gNUCJDF5
