8 things 8 years in media taught me about building a personal brand (and why I can be your one-woman army) → Your story matters more than your job title When I started, I thought credibility came from where you worked. Over the years, I’ve seen that people connect far more with who you are and why you do what you do than just your designation. Your personal brand lives in your journey, not your CV, and I know how to find those stories you didn’t think were worth telling. → Visibility beats perfection I used to wait until everything looked “just right” before sharing. Now I know the people who show up consistently (even with imperfect posts) are the ones remembered. I help brands show up so they never fade into the background. → Authority is built in layers You don’t become the go-to name overnight. It’s about sharing ideas, opinions, and work consistently over months and years. As a journalist, content writer, and host, I know how to keep that drumbeat going across multiple platforms so you’re everywhere your audience looks. → Relationships open more doors than cold outreach Some of my biggest opportunities came from people I’d nurtured for years. I don’t just post for clients, I help them build relationship capital so they’re top of mind when opportunities drop. → Your personality is your differentiator Skills can be matched. Style can be copied. But your energy, your humour, your way of telling a story? That’s your fingerprint. I’m here to make sure your brand sounds like you, not “generic LinkedIn professional #5672.” → The work you say ‘no’ to shapes your brand as much as what you say ‘yes’ to In my early career, I said yes to everything. Now I know that turning down work that doesn’t align with your values makes your brand sharper and I help my clients make those calls with confidence. → Learning in public is a growth hack Documenting your process, mistakes, and lessons builds an audience that roots for you. As a podcast host and interviewer, I draw out these moments so they resonate deeply. → Brand is a long game, but momentum can start today It’s not built in a week, but it can shift in a day if you start showing up differently. I help brands take that first step and keep the momentum rolling, from the first post to the next press interview. If you need someone who can write your story, host your podcast, prep you for interviews, create your content, and make your brand unforgettable, without you managing five different people, that’s me. One woman. All the skills. Your brand, everywhere. DM me if you’re ready to start showing up the way your audience will remember.

If I were building my personal brand from scratch today, I’d do far fewer things — but I’d think much more deeply about why I was doing them. I wouldn’t start with posting every day. I wouldn’t chase reach, trends, or virality. And I definitely wouldn’t try to sound like everyone else in my space. Instead, I’d slow down and build it in layers. First, I’d get brutally clear on positioning. Not my job title — but the problem I want my name to be associated with. If someone mentions me in a room I’m not in, what should they say next? Second, I’d choose a small set of themes and commit to them. Not everything I know. Just 2–3 ideas I’m willing to repeat for months until the market connects the dots. Third, I’d work on interpretation, not performance. I’d ask: Is my content easy to understand or just impressive to read? Can someone explain my work simply after scrolling my profile? Fourth, I’d align my personal story with my professional value. Not oversharing. Not random vulnerability. Just enough context for people to trust where my perspective comes from. Fifth, I’d focus on credibility before visibility. Proof of thinking. Proof of judgment. Proof that I can hold complexity — not just execute tasks. Sixth, I’d make it easy for the right people to approach me. Clear language. Clear signals. No confusion about how or why someone should reach out. Because the biggest mistake people make isn’t inconsistency. It’s confusion. When your narrative is unclear, no amount of content fixes it. But when it’s clear, even a few well-placed posts compound quietly. This matters even more if you’re a founder or independent professional. You don’t need to be everywhere. You need to be understood in the right rooms. If you’re building a personal brand and feel stuck, or you want to shape a clearer media and communication narrative for your brand, feel free to get in touch.

As I hosted Powergrid's Gridcon 2025, I happened to speak with Shri Pankaj Agarwal Ji, Secretary, Power, Government of India. Here's the story! It was an opportunity just appeared to me just a night before the event, very out of my plans. I was out of town. But I just said yes to it. What happened next will always be in my portfolio. Happened to speak with global leaders from power industry. Led a short film for Gridcon 2025. Made XXX amount in 3 days which sorted my Holi break. One opportunity that opened doors for many others. Lessons learnt-- Say more yes! Be open to anything that may sound out of comfort zone at first. You don't know what you can do unless you do it. So just go for it! Here's your cue to just go for it! Reach out if you are looking for a media professional to collaborate with :)
