CA Final results were declared today, and India has added 13,000 more Chartered Accountants to its human capital. LinkedIn will be flooded with pink screenshots of marksheets from successful candidates. But this post is not for the ones who cleared their exams today. Congrats, you deserve every bit of it! This post is for every examinee who couldn't cross the threshold. Missed by a few marks. Months of hard work that couldn't see the light of day. I want you to hear me out. Picking those books again will be the most difficult task. Missing those social events, sacrificing days and nights again, answering relatives' calls for consolation, watching your friends party, and watching those revision lectures again. It will all hurt. You might not know where to start. Where to stop. And I get it. But when you muster the strength to begin again, I want you to know that I'm there. In the next 6 months of your prep journey, you can shoot me a text whenever you need help - with subject preparation, paper presentation, memory techniques, and anything else. If you're overthinking and wish to send a big message, I will be there to read. You are not alone in this journey. I have my own work and education commitments too, which is why I urge all my friends and newly minted CAs to reach out and help. We want to see you succeed in the exams. It is time to give. I never wanted to do CA. It happened to me anyway. Let me tell you how. After joining SRCC and shifting to New Delhi, I wanted to explore so much - join college societies, explore new places in Delhi University and make lasting friendships. And all that, SRCC gave me. CA had taken a backseat for me. In fact, I registered for CA Intermediate exams - exactly 2 days before the due date (that too, because my friend randomly mentioned this in a conversation). When I appeared for CA Inter exams in Nov'18, I wasn't even aware of the benefit of appearing for both groups together. I ended up writing only 1 Group, which I cleared with God's grace. After the results, I decided I was done with CA - once and for all. SRCC is known for great placements and CAT also seemed reasonable. But as fate would have it, they didn't work out then. On top of that, the pandemic struck and there was a sudden recession in the market for jobs. But there's magic in how things work out. The course which was long forgotten, found its way back into my life. Articleship happened. Group 2 happened. And then one fine day, EY happened. Step by step, things fell into place. The most important takeaway is how those last 5 months before CA Finals changes you as a person. Here's to a journey of hope. Of patience. Of lonely nights. Of love, and heartbreaks. Of countless revisions. And all that, hidden behind a smile! 😬 PS- Pls don't think I remember everything written in all these books, hell no! I didn't even remember them while giving exams :P

Did some quick math on BookMyShow’s convenience fee income from Coldplay ticket sales: Stadium seating capacity: 45.3k No. of blocks: 30 (10 for each Level) Seats per block: 1500 (approx.) Convenience fee: ~10% per ticket • Income from 12.5k tickets: 1500*6 blocks*12.5k*10% = 112.5 lakh • Income from 9.5k/9k tickets: 1500*4 blocks*9k*10% = 54 lakh • Income from 4k/4.5k tickets: 1500*8 blocks*4k*10% = 48 lakh • Income from 3k/3.5k tickets: 1500*10 blocks*3k*10% = 45 lakh • Income from 2.5k tickets: 1500*2 blocks*2.5k*10% = 7.5 lakh • Income from standing tickets: 15000 capacity*6.5k*10% = 97.5 lakh • Income from lounge tickets: 1500*35k*10% = 52.5 lakh Total: 417 lakh. From one event. 3 events in total makes the revenue figure ~ INR 12.5 crore This is just revenue from the primary market. What if BookMyShow creates a formalised resale market like Zomato’s District? What’s more? This is just from one band’s performance in one Indian city. Can imagine creating similar experiences in Del, BLR, Kolkata and even Tier 2 cities. Add to that growing per capita, a large youth population, increased spending on experiences. We have just scratched the surface in events and entertainment. I see BookMyShow doing well and perhaps a solid listing in the next few years.
