Last month, I interviewed a female candidate for a job position. She had taken a 2–3 year career break to care for her child and manage family responsibilities. Me: Do you have any questions? She: Would it be possible to work from home a few days a week? My child is still quite young. Me: Yes, you can take WFH whenever needed. Anything else? She: I would be needing flexible working hours, considering my family responsibilities. I had other candidates who didn’t have these requirements—but I still selected her, because fulfilling family responsibilities should never be a reason for rejection.
