From cow dung to cool classrooms—only in DU✨️
Being a student of Lakshmibai College, I’ve seen a lot... but nothing prepared me for walking into a classroom and finding cow dung on the walls. Yes, it’s real. No, it’s not a prank.
Our Principal, Dr. Pratyush Vatsala , went old-school—literally—to beat the Delhi heat using traditional Indian knowledge. Cow dung, known for its cooling properties, was applied to one classroom as part of a research initiative. Sounds wild? Maybe. But it’s sustainable, chemical-free, and definitely desi.
While some folks on the internet are busy cracking jokes and making reels, here’s a thought: maybe not every “different” idea deserves mockery. Sometimes, solutions don’t come in fancy packaging—they come straight from the soil (and sometimes, the cow shed😛).
Not saying we all want dung-washed walls in every block—but I love being part of a college that dares to try something different.

It’s LinkedIn, not LinkUp!
DM expectations: “Let’s collaborate!” “Exciting opportunity!”
DM reality:
“Kya kar rahe ho?”
“Can we more chit chat on WhatsApp?”
“???” after one day of silence.
Why is this man sending me his WhatsApp number like it’s a job offer?😂

Did DUSU President Ronak Khatri coat the Principal’s office walls with cow dung?🤔
Yes!
But, Why?
Because Professor Pratyush Vatsala went viral for smearing it on classroom walls as it leads to eco-friendliness and natural cooling.
Ronak asked:
“Why should classrooms have all the privilege? Let the Principal enjoy it too.”
Fair question. Unfair execution.
Now let me be clear:
I respect that the Principal took some initiative in this scorching Delhi heat. An attempt at sustainability and student welfare is commendable.
But here’s the thing—
As someone who sat in those classrooms, it felt just 5–10% cooler, but 500% smellier.
We got eco-friendliness in theory, and a full sensory experience in reality.
Breathing in cow dung, trying to focus—it wasn’t education, it was endurance training.
This isn’t about cow dung.
This is about how students are forever the test subjects, the afterthoughts, the punchlines.
