Hey Kriti, what steps should I take during my 2-year MBA to boost my chances of getting placed at a top company? Hey, LinkedIn fam!! This is a question that I have been asked most recently both from my topmate mentees and LinkedIn DMs. So, the first thing the recruiters notice on your resume is the "delta" the difference in your resume before and after 2 years of MBA. A good visible difference shows that you have worked hard in the past 2 years to gain new skills and practical experience. Everybody would have a summer internship as it is mandatory but what things you do to learn and improve yourself shows how you are different from others. Here are a few things you can do to improve your chances of increasing the delta: 📌Case Competitions 📌PORs in Clubs and Committees 📌Live projects and internships 📌Participation in inter/intra B-school competitions 📌Courses that teach you skills apart from your curriculum. 📌Extracurriculars in singing, dancing, sports, content creation, etc Focusing on these things in the 2 years of your MBA will help you make a difference in your resume and that will eventually make an impact on recruiters. --------------------- Follow Kriti Khanna for more. 2 years back, I was rejected by all the IIMs and today I am working as a product manager with Axis Bank. Hey, LinkedIn fam!! Rejections are a part of life but they do not define your future. Results for most of the B-schools are out and this post is for MBA aspirants who could not convert the calls of their dream Bschools. I won't say that the tier of your B-school does not matter, it does but only in the initial phase. It is not the end of the world there are still plenty of opportunities that can lead to a good career. Running after a specific college won't help you, instead work hard in the college that you converted and everything will fall in place. MBA is all about placements, let me break the myth. Hey, LinkedIn fam!! MBA is all about placements this is what you must have heard, but let me tell you, THIS IS A MYTH MBA is surely about placements but that is only 30% of it, It surely gives you career growth and a new trajectory but it is not all of it. Here is the rest 70% of your MBA is about: 📌You learn a new way of thinking about business and management when you go through interesting and real-life business cases. 📌You understand the essence of teamwork and getting work done by others as the majority of the time you will be working in groups for projects. 📌Building connections and how important they are in the future run is something that an MBA will teach you. 📌You will learn Communication and Presentation skills and also understand its importance. 📌An MBA teaches you to develop a go-getter attitude, the value of hustle, and the importance of consistent effort and hard work. It’s a tough journey where you’ll learn to work at odd hours, push through challenges, and keep going even with little sleep.
