What people saw: A 36-hour Stranger Things-themed hackathon. What they didn’t see: Nearly 6 months of chaos, planning, and relentless teamwork. Finding sponsors. Building partnerships. Handling last-minute cancellations. Managing endless preparations. And then suddenly… the event was just two days away. But when the hackathon finally began and we saw participants building, collaborating, and pushing their creativity for 36 hours straight - every sleepless night felt worth it. Grateful to my college, Guru Tegh Bahadur 4th Centenary Engineering College for trusting us and giving us the opportunity to organize the CodeZen 2. A huge thank you to our society mentors, Arpit Rajput and Atharv Tripathifor guiding us throughout this journey. Couldn’t have done this without my co-organizers Naman Gambhir Ayush Mishra Aman Goel Dhwani Nagpal Manya Madan who stayed strong through every challenge. Special thanks to Pardeep Singh Sir, our faculty head at CodeGeeks and all the faculty cordinators for their immense support and guidance. I spent the last two months applying for internships and recently secured a legitimate one. But during this process, I noticed some disturbing patterns in many online “internship” programs that students genuinely need to be aware of. A lot of these opportunities: - accept almost everyone instantly, - add hundreds of students into massive WhatsApp groups, - push interns to post promotional content on LinkedIn, - and later ask for payments in the name of certificates or documentation fees. Personally, I feel that if students are expected to pay for certification or participation, it should be clearly presented as a training program or workshop not an internship. What’s more concerning is how common these listings are becoming on LinkedIn . I genuinely think platforms like LinkedIn should strengthen verification for internship postings because students invest their time, effort, and trust into these opportunities. I’m sharing this only for awareness so more students can identify red flags before joining. Before accepting any internship: - research the company, - talk to previous interns, - verify mentorship and structure, - and stay cautious of organizations focused more on engagement and promotion than actual learning. Students deserve transparency, mentorship, and genuine opportunities to grow. #Internship #Students #LinkedIn #CareerAdvice #Internships #Freshers #Awareness #StudentCommunity
