6 months back, back in Rourkela, no one in my family thought I could sustain and live all by myself. A not - uncommon belief parents have of their children growing up. Fast forward to today; for the last 3 months, I have been doing precisely the same—the first two months in Gurgaon and now on campus. In gurgaon, the challenge was adjusting to a hustling -bustling metro life directly from the lap of a tier 3 city. Loved the freedom. The independence that came with it. Just as I had gotten the taste of it, the challenge now is to adjust to the demanding B-school schedule and let go of the freedom you had had two months back. Where our day starts with 5.45 am yoga, and just have Sundays to go out of campus. But one thing I was sure of was, that it is ‘me’ who has to be more accommodating. For some, this might sound like another GK Ques, but for odias, we have been hearing his stories of courage right from our toddler days😂 Bijaynanda or Biju Patnaik's dead body was wrapped in the national flags of India, Russia, and Indonesia. (Yes! I did answer) ...... Today, 1st April, on the occasion of Utkal Divas, let me take you through his journey :D The ruling party of Odisha (BJD) is also named after him, but there's more to it. He was a pilot, a dear friend of Nehru, and had helped; 🎯To safely evacuate soldiers from Kashmir to Srinagar when Kashmir was attacked in 1947. 🎯 In July 1947, Sutan Sjahrir, the Prime Minister of Indonesia, when arrested by the Dutch, the country sought India's help, and Nehru gave this responsibility to Biju, and he was successful in rescuing their PM. India played a significant role in Indonesia's independence. People don't easily forget others' favors, and we don't have to read 'how to win friends and influence people' to understand this:D He was awarded the highest honorary of Indonesia, ' Bintang Jasa Utma,' in their 50th year of independence. And not many will know President Sukarno's daughter- Megawati, was also named by the Patnaik couple. 🎯In Russia, during the 2nd world war, the Soviet Union had sought India’s help. Biju had assisted their air force to bomb Hitler's forces, forcing him to retreat.
