Amazon has officially become a third-party logistics provider (or 3PL) now. I think Amazon will rank among the biggest third-party logistics providers in the world. Amazon has a long record of successfully persuading businesses to use their technology for their purposes. For instance, Amazon Web Services (AWS), the biggest cloud service provider in the world, brought in $62 billion in revenue for Amazon in 2021. I stated in 2018 that, "Between 2020 and 2023, Amazon is going to apply the AWS model to logistics which will result in companies contracting Amazon to manage their warehousing and distribution and eventually, additional logistics services." According to an official statement from Amazon, "We are introducing a new solution that enables sellers to use new, purpose-built facilities for bulk inventory storage and automated distribution. This is a continuation of Amazon's multiyear investment in its warehousing and distribution network to support sellers and better serve customers. Amazon Warehousing & Distribution (AWD) helps sellers build and manage their businesses while drastically reducing expenses. It also addresses important supply chain concerns. Managing logistics and operations, including inventory storage, distribution, and order fulfilment, can be difficult and expensive for many firms. It took place. Sellers are freed from the laborious, time-consuming process of transporting product from upstream facilities to Amazon fulfilment centres thanks to this straightforward pay-as-you-go service. The promise of supply chain as a service is realised with the help of AWD, which was created expressly to address inventory management issues and provide operational efficiencies. The Amazon fulfilment network now allows retailers to store and distribute merchandise using AWD. However, the business announced in a news release that starting in 2023, customers will be able to send product to any place, including wholesale clients and physical storefronts.
