My College Textbooks Taught Me Nothing That ChatGPT Couldn’t.
But through the chaos of events, committees, and projects here’s what college really taught me:
1. Time Management is survival.
Between classes, internships, event planning and last-minute submissions, you either learn to manage time, or time manages you.
2. How to deal with all kinds of people.
From silent teammates to overly assertive ones, from arguing with people over the smallest things in an event to them becoming my closest friends college taught me how to deal with all different kinds of people.
3. Leadership isn’t just a title.
It’s managing chaos, resolving fights, staying calm even when everything’s going exactly in the opposite manner of what you had planned.
4. Events were my real classrooms.
Hosting fests, running around backstage, last-minute fights, waiting endlessly for approvals, fixing things no one noticed, that’s where I learned more about deadlines, negotiation and people than any course could’ve ever taught me.
5. Confidence came from showing up.
Not from any course, but from volunteering and participating. I wasn’t always the most confident person but college gave me small wins like hosting events, leading a team, anchoring in a packed auditorium and it slowly added up.
So no, my textbooks didn’t teach me much.
But my experiences in college? They shaped how I think, work, lead and connect.
And that’s the kind of education you can’t Google.
What did your college experience teach you that no syllabus ever covered?

Your Network Is Your Net Worth, But Not In the Way You Think
We’ve all heard the line: “Your network is your net worth.”
And honestly, it used to sound transactional to me, like the more people you collect, the more successful you’ll become.
But here’s what I’ve learned:
Your real network is made in far more ordinary moments.
It’s that college senior who helped you fix your CV.
The friend who sent you a freelance gig at 2 AM.
That ex-client who still cheers you on from afar.
The classmate you were paired with who now recommends you for things quietly, without you even asking.
These people?
They don’t show up on LinkedIn headlines.
They’re not “high-value connections.”
But they’re the ones who genuinely see you.
Support you.
Share things with your name on it because they believe you’ll do a good job.
That’s real net worth.
So yes, your network is your net worth.
Just don’t underestimate the quiet, real ones building it with you every day.
