Most aspiring developers make one big mistake:
They choose between DSA and Development.
𝗗𝗼𝗻’𝘁.
If you only do DSA → You may crack interviews, but struggle to build.
If you only do Development → You may build projects, but struggle in interviews.
𝗧𝗵𝗲 𝘀𝘄𝗲𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗽𝗼𝘁?
Learn both together.
Because:
✅ DSA builds your problem-solving mindset
✅ Development teaches you real-world engineering
✅ Together, they make you industry-ready
Here’s a practical roadmap 👇
𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟭: 𝗕𝘂𝗶𝗹𝗱 𝘁𝗵𝗲 𝗙𝗼𝘂𝗻𝗱𝗮𝘁𝗶𝗼𝗻 (0–3 months)
💻 Pick one language: Python / Java / C++
📚 Learn arrays, strings, linked lists, stacks, queues
🌐 Start HTML, CSS, JavaScript
🔧 Learn Git + GitHub
Best resources:
• Striver / Love Babbar
• Hitesh Choudhary / CodeWithHarry
𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟮: 𝗚𝗿𝗼𝘄 𝗧𝗼𝗴𝗲𝘁𝗵𝗲𝗿 (3–6 months)
🧠 DSA: Sorting, Binary Search, Recursion, Trees
🛠️ Dev: APIs, Databases, Backend Basics
🚀 Build small projects while solving problems
Best resources:
• Abdul Bari / NeetCode
• Piyush Garg / Akshay Saini
𝗣𝗵𝗮𝘀𝗲 𝟯: 𝗦𝘁𝗮𝗻𝗱 𝗢𝘂𝘁 (6+ months)
⚡ Dynamic Programming, Graphs, Greedy
🏗️ Full-stack projects
☁️ Cloud + Deployment
🎯 Mock interviews + Resume building
Bonus creators:
• Gaurav Sen (System Design)
• Krish Naik (AI/ML)
• Fireship (Quick learning)
𝗠𝘆 𝗿𝗲𝗰𝗼𝗺𝗺𝗲𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗱 𝗱𝗮𝗶𝗹𝘆 𝘀𝗽𝗹𝗶𝘁:
📚 2 hrs DSA
🛠️ 2 hrs Development
📝 30 mins revision
Consistency beats intensity.
You don’t need 10-hour grind sessions.
You just need to show up daily.

𝗧𝗵𝗶𝘀 𝗿𝗲𝘀𝘂𝗺𝗲 𝗵𝗲𝗹𝗽𝗲𝗱 𝗺𝗲 𝗴𝗲𝘁 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗲𝗱 𝗮𝘁 Microsoft 𝗮𝗻𝗱 ServiceNow.
At one point, I used to wonder:
“𝗪𝗵𝘆 𝘄𝗼𝘂𝗹𝗱 𝗮𝗻𝘆𝗼𝗻𝗲 𝘀𝗵𝗼𝗿𝘁𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁 𝗺𝘆 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗳𝗶𝗹𝗲?”
Then I realized I was making the same mistake most freshers make:
I was 𝗹𝗶𝘀𝘁𝗶𝗻𝗴 𝘀𝗸𝗶𝗹𝗹𝘀 instead of showing 𝗽𝗿𝗼𝗼𝗳 𝗼𝗳 𝘄𝗼𝗿𝗸.
So I changed my approach:
✔ Built real, end-to-end projects (not tutorial clones)
✔ Clearly explained what each project does and the problem it solves
✔ Highlighted measurable achievements like LeetCode performance, hackathons, and top percentile rankings
✔ Focused on impact over buzzwords
That's when things started to change.
More recruiters started reaching out.
Interview shortlists began to increase.
𝗕𝗶𝗴 𝗹𝗲𝘀𝘀𝗼𝗻:
Your resume is not a list of skills.
It's evidence of what you can actually build and solve.
