Back in 2014, this company went head-to-head with Samsung Electronics, becoming the world’s No. 2 smartphone brand.🇮🇳
₹11,000 crore in revenue, 22% market share. Ads everywhere. Phones in every hand.
I am talking about Micromax.
At the heart of it all was Rahul Sharma, the man who dared to dream big.
But dreams have a way of crashing.
> The 4G revolution blindsided Micromax, leaving warehouses full of 3G phones no one wanted.
> Chinese brands flooded the market with better, cheaper options. Innovation stalled.
By 2018, Micromax had lost its edge—revenues crashed to ₹4,345 crore, and profits tanked 97%.
Most people wrote Micromax off.
But not the entrepreneurial spirit in Rahul...Instead of calling it quits, he doubled down:
✔️ Acquired vivo’s factory to back a "Make in India" comeback.
✔️ Launched Revolt Motors, India’s first AI-enabled electric bike, and exited with a sale to RattanIndia Power Limited.
✔️ Now, with MiPhi Semiconductors Private Limited, a semiconductor venture with Taiwan’s Phison, he’s betting big on India’s tech future.
Remember, in business, survival isn’t the goal. Evolution is.
I, for one, am curious to see where he goes next. :)

Can this Chennai based Startup, founded by 2 Indian Institute of Technology, Madras Alumni Finally End Manual Scavenging In India? 🇮🇳🚨
Solinas Integrity Pvt. Ltd., founded by Moinak Banerjee, Divanshu Kumar, and Bhavesh Narayani, is fighting one of India’s most dangerous jobs — Manual Scavenging.
Between 2017-2021, almost 330 people died while cleaning sewers (and that’s just the reported number; The reality is likely far worse!)😔
So, they developed India’s 1st robot for septic tank and manhole cleaning.
(You might’ve also seen them on Shark Tank India S2 🦈)
Moinak, was living comfortably in Sweden when he realized that the quality of water in Indian homes was a far cry from Europe.
That realization hit him hard. So hard, in fact, that he left his job at Scania to build a solution for India 🙏
Today, they’re working with government departments, municipal corporations, and private giants like SUEZ, Volvo Group, and Mahindra Group.
But this innovation is about more than technology— It’s about solving Bharat’s real-world problems..
(Problems we often forget exist while living in Tier 1 cities. 😓)
Yes, we need convenience-focused startups offering 10-minute deliveries…
but we also need startups solving basic life challenges for the majority of India’s population in Tier 2 and beyond 🇮🇳
Agree?

This 27-Year-Old Man from Bihar is Disrupting a ₹86,000 Crore Industry.
In January 2020, Chandrashekhar Mandal stood on a rainy Delhi balcony, coffee in hand, watching laborers scramble for jobs at a chowk.
It reminded him of home. Of his uncle. Of his childhood in Darbhanga, Bihar, where countless daily wage workers struggled for survival.
And then came the thought:
"If LinkedIn can exist for white-collar professionals, why can’t there be a platform for them?"
The idea stayed with him.
When COVID-19 hit and migrant workers walked miles back to their villages, Chandrashekhar couldn’t stay on the sidelines.
With just ₹40,000 in savings, he quit his banking job, returned to Bihar, and got to work.
And created Digital Labour Chowk.
🇮🇳India’s first platform connecting blue-collar workers to employers.
No more standing in heat and rain. No more waiting at chowks.
Instead, verified jobs, fair pay via direct transfers, and a 24/7 helpline to ensure worker safety.
The impact so far:
>100,000+ laborers registered.
>2,800+ companies hiring.
>Expanding across Bihar, NCR, Jharkhand, and UP.
And Chandrashekhar isn’t stopping there.
He’s now working on digital labor cards to give workers a credible identity and upskilling programs to boost their earnings.
From a rainy balcony to transforming over 1 lakh lives, his journey proves:
Empathy isn’t just a feeling—it’s a force for change.
